Carlie pursued her dream of teaching by earning a master’s degree in special education. She served in the public schools for 17 years as both an exceptional education and a home-based teacher. Currently, she and her husband are partners at Sound of Music Studios. While her formal background is not art, she has always nourished her passion for creativity…. running art camps for family and friends, developing the All Star Art Project (ASAP) in her child’s high school exceptional needs classroom, restoring a 1907 home, hosting backyard art auctions raising money for classrooms and non-profits as well as cultivating her art.  Carlie helped found a local non-profit serving young adult with autism and served as its art director and as a board member for 7 years. Just as she retired from that board, she was approached to participate in HeARTcore, marrying music, visual art, and area youth. It was a no-brainer.
