Rikki Pierce is a local artist who divides her time between Richmond and Deltaville. She writes and illustrates children’s books, but has always had a fascination with woodcuts. Profoundly influenced by Albrecht Durer, a German printmaker from the sixteenth century, Rikki is now concentrating on pen and ink drawings as she delves into the beautiful contrast between black ink and crisp, white paper. Her most recent images have explored the world of mythical beings, as well as several other pieces that center on the 400th anniversary of slavery in Virginia. Rikki’s Art is currently on display in Richmond galleries and boutique shops. In addition, her images can be found on a variety of surfaces, including greeting cards, t-shirts, tea towels and gift bags.
