Originally from the suburbs of Boston, MA, Karen has been a Richmond, VA resident for the last 22 years. Formerly a busy stay at home mom to two children, Karen has enjoyed playing/writing music and creating art for her home, friends, and family. A self-taught emerging artist with an entrepreneurial spirit, She enjoys working primarily in acrylics and favors using palette knives over brushes. In 2020, during the pandemic lockdown, Karen launched her art business and website to sell her art as “Art to be lived in". A lover of the outdoors, Karen puts herself in nature daily, enjoying just about any outdoor activity. Her art reflects this in a variety of ways.
In Virginia, Karen’s art has been promoted by Crossroads Art Center, Artworks, Gallery5, Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville as well as selected for the production set of “Dopestick”. While continuing to show and sell in Richmond, VA galleries, Karen has been expanding her reach to share her art via virtual galleries, artist directories, social media, and her website www.palmerKdesigns.com.
